Dear brothers and sisters,
It is my pleasure to wish you all, a very happy and prosperous New Year, 2011.  The advent of a New Year is a time to celebrate a new beginning, a time to ponder over the past and plan for the future and a time to wish all the loved ones a very happy future.

We Mohyals trace our origin to antiquity, the ancient times. We do not think in terms of days, months and years only, we also think in terms of millenniums, centuries and decades. The birth and growth of the GMS is spread over 3 centuries viz. the 19th, 20th & 21st. It was at the beginning of the last decade of the nineteenth century that, our elders, taking cue from the establishment of All India Congress Committee and the Arya Samaj, started our very own Mohyal Mitter Sabha later christened as the General Mohyal Sabha. With the grace of Almighty, we are now entering the second decade of the twenty first century. Our forefathers had priorities and aims for the welfare, prosperity and unity of the Mohyal Community and it is towards this end that they started helping the deserving Mohyal widows, Mohyal students especially the orphans, facilitating the matrimonial alliances amongst Mohyals and to achieve all these noble goals, they started our dearest magazine ‘Mohyal Mitter’, as a vehicle for communication between the apex body and the members of the community.

We, in the modern age are doing exactly the same, although with changing times the priorities and their scale have changed for the better. During the last three decades tremendous progress has been made in such activities both at the local and all India levels. There is more awareness of Mohyal identity amongst members of our community in India as well as abroad. No individual can take the credit for all these achievements under the auspices of the General Mohyal Sabha. The times and the opportunities had changed and then we were lucky in forming teams of dedicated workers who individually as well as collectively, could put their best foot forward and place the community before self. Members of the community, at large, were not lagging behind. They cooperated fully with the GMS by providing the much needed resources, funds and time in the service of the community.

Unfortunately, in every society there always are some disgruntled and self seeking elements who without any positive contribution to the welfare of the society prove a drag on it. The need of the hour is to identify such elements and make sincere efforts to reform them and to carry them along in the best interest of our society. Please remember that it is only smiles that can cure heart blocks and not any confrontation.

Like the Mohyal Ashram at Lahore (now in Pakistan), Mohyal Ashram and Sewa Sadan at Haridwar have proved to be beacons for the Mohyal Community enabling its members to come closer in the shape of a fist, instead of individual fingers. To give impetus to the same cause, the GMS is on the job and plans to inaugurate an equally magnificent structure in the form of Mohyal Ashram, Vrindavan, at the earliest, in the New Year 2011.
With the coming of a New Year many of us make New Year Resolutions.  Instead of individual resolutions let us make a collective resolution, stating:

We shall shun all negative thoughts and voluntarily do social work for the community, through the GMS and the local sabhas, with goodwill towards all and unity in the community at the forefront. We shall try to be a good role model for all our brethren and children and encourage them to excel in life in this most competitive world. We shall endeavour to attend regularly the meetings of the local sabhas and GMS. We shall work hard to increase the permanent membership of the GMS so that the base of the organization at the grass root level is further expanded. We shall motivate ourselves and other Mohyals for the service to the community. We shall be good, kind, humane and charitable.  We shall love our fellows, console the afflicted and pardon those who have done us wrong”.
New is the year, new are the hopes, and new are the aspirations and forever my warm wishes to all of you.  With love for all and malice towards none.
Jai Mohyal!

Yours brotherly,
